Description
A poetic pair of wall lamps from the celebrated “Sonata” series by Hans-Agne Jakobsson, produced in Markaryd during the 1960s. Each sconce is composed of three slender arms in warm polished brass, gently unfolding from a circular wall backplate like a quiet musical phrase suspended in space. The light sources are enclosed within tall cylindrical clear glass shades, creating a soft, atmospheric glow that feels both precise and dreamlike. When illuminated, the lamps reveal Jakobsson’s signature sensitivity to light: the bulbs appear to float inside the glass, diffusing a warm, intimate radiance that animates the surrounding wall without glare. The composition is perfectly balanced — architectural yet lyrical — a hallmark of Scandinavian lighting design at its most refined. The brass surfaces retain a beautiful original patina, with subtle signs of age that enhance their depth and character. The glass cylinders are thick and well-proportioned, contributing to the lamps’ elegant verticality and timeless presence. Completely original condition. Rewiring is recommended to meet current standards and can be provided upon request. Conditions: Good Vintage Condition.
